Project
“Abitiamo Insieme”

Providing support to adults with intellectual disabilities or psychiatric disorders within the framework of independent living.

Progetto

THE CHALLENGE

Isolation and the deterioration of remaining abilities and autonomy can seriously impact the quality of life and psychological well-being of adults with intellectual disabilities or psychiatric conditions, particularly those without a family or whose family support is temporarily or permanently unavailable. This lack of social interaction and stimulation often leads to progressive isolation, further hindering the individual’s capacity to independently manage daily tasks, including personal hygiene, maintaining living spaces, and handling essential activities.

THE GOAL

The aim of the project is to assist individuals facing difficulties in managing their daily lives, promoting social engagement, autonomy, and the preservation of both existing and emerging skills. By implementing a rehabilitative-educational process aimed at social integration, the project encourages autonomous living away from the family of origin, providing opportunities for personal interaction and growth. The goal is to develop competencies that allow individuals to live more independently and actively, preserving and enhancing their acquired abilities for greater social inclusion and overall well-being. Participants have engaged in activities focused on social interaction, managing personal and common living spaces, and domestic management.

THE IMPACT

The results reflect meaningful growth in the skills of the four individuals who successfully embraced a cohabitation and independent living environment. The project enabled them to strengthen their self-management capabilities, from personal hygiene and care for their surroundings to prioritizing physical and psychological health. They also gained skills to plan and value their leisure activities, enhancing their overall well-being and fostering a healthier balance between personal and social life.
